Optimise Your Jobs Board

Have you ever dreamt of having your own job board at reasonable cost? Not only that but wouldn't it be great to be able to optimise it to climb up the Google rankings? First you must decide what niche your job board will operate in. Having an all singing, all dancing board that covers a general market is impracticable for the man in the street. Thinly spread resources will result in very little being achieved in terms of ranking positions.

Having decided upon your niche, I've found that best ranking positions are achieved by having a H1 heading tag placed near the top of the page. Include as many keywords / keyphrases in the heading, but be careful not to dilute the keywords. Next, include keywords within the actual body of the text. Remember, search engine spiders are not able to recognise images, so concentrate your efforts on the actual words that you use. Repeat each keyword at least three or four times within the first 200 words. Repeat the process for each page within the job board, but be careful not to duplicate content across pages as this will result in penalties from Google.

Finally, make sure that your selected keywords are included in the page title. This is one of the most important aspects of the on page optimisation so please do not forget this step. Finally, to round things off, start your link building strategy. Obtain as many links from relevant sources with the "dofollow" attribute and with relevant anchor text. Simply wait for the search engines to discover the newly created links and see where you appear in the rankings.
